Q: Some people say that I should wait and change my oil every 5,000
miles to save money, is this true? A: Absolutely not! Change your oil every 3,000
miles, and you will never have an oil related breakdown. Changing your oil is the best thing you can do for your car. We call it "cheap insurance". You can't change your oil too much, but you can change it too
little. Don't take a chance - change it every 3000 miles!--------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: How often should I change my timing belt? A: It varies from vehicle to vehicle. Most Toyotas are recommended every 60,000 miles, but some of the newer ones are recommended every 90,000 miles. Call us and ask to be sure. A broken timing belt will
leave you stranded, and on some vehicles it can destroy the engine.--------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: The dealership said that I have to have my car serviced by them to keep my warranty intact. Is that true?
A: Absolutely not. I don't even know if it's legal for them to tell you
that. The only thing that you need is proof that you had the car serviced. (oil change receipts and service records) When I worked at the dealership, the only time I saw this come into play was when there was an engine
failure. They want to see oil change receipts. So keep good records!! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: Are those $99.95 brake jobs some places offer a good deal? A: First of all, you'll never get out of there for $99.95. It is a bait and switch. Secondly, you cannot do a
four-wheel brake job with top quality parts for $99.95. A good set of brake pads runs anywhere from $39 - $85. That's just the pads! You rely on your brakes for you and your family's safety. Don't put your safety in the
hands of a $10 set of brake pads!--------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: The last oil change place I went to told me that I needed a fuel injector flush at a cost of about $100. Is this necessary? A: Injector flushes are a way for shops to make quick money. They did them at the dealership when I worked
there, and I never saw it fix one car. If your car is running well then a cleaner called BG44k can be added to your gas tank and will clean the injectors better than a power flush and for a lot less money. It will also
clean the intake manifold and valves as it is passes through them. It is not available over the counter, but you can purchase it through my shop or other shops that carry BG products. |
